Welcome to the Westchester Contract Bridge Association, part of the ACBL's District 3 and Region 3.

Club Corner

This is where you can read about news and events happening at our local clubs.

The Bridge Deck is holding Junior Fund games on Tuesdays and Thursdays in January. Extra points, no extra charge! And Thursday's games feature pizza and $10 table money.

The next Royal STaC across the greater NYC area runs January 27-31. Initially silver points will be awarded in your local clubs, later adjusted to 1/4 gold, 1/4 red, 1/4 silver and 1/4 black. Win extra points for a solid regional performance against players in other participating District 3 and District 24 clubs. All of the Unit's Open clubs have registered to take part. Heritage Hills has joined The Common Game! This means that all of the Open clubs in Unit 188 are playing under The Common Game umbrella. You can all compare notes!

Welcome to the Westchester Contract Bridge Association, part of the ACBL's District 3 and Region 3.

Spring in Westchester 2025

Westchester's deluxe tournament returns to the Beach Point Country Club in Mamaroneck in April, on Saturday the 19th.

Enjoy Unit 188's annual Swiss Teams competition as well as a gourmet lunch that will be served between sessions. New Life Masters and Masterpoint race winners will get awards, and a good time is usually had by all! The Unit holds its AGM as well.

In January we got the last word on 2024 rank advancement. Maureen Berkman won promotion to Silver Life Master. Gina D'Avanzo advanced to Life Master, Abraham Ofer to NABC Master, and Marilyn Birnbaum to Club Master.

Michele Lazar, Erika Radin, Susan Schwartz and Deborah Rappaport won a Bracketed Teams competition Tuesday.

Ron Gerard and Nancy Molesworth came out on top in Thursday's Open Pairs.

Kudos to solid performers at the GNYBA Holiday Regional!

Jeffrey and Theo Allen paired with NYC players Eugene Goldberg and Joan Lurie to win a teams competition Thursday.

Other Unit 188 players making the leaderboards included Paul Lewis and Jill Marshall, Robert Sroka, Ron Gerard, and Parag Saxena. Click here for full results.

 

And special mention for those who did well in the September Royal STaC!

Colin Baigel and Jill Marshall topped a 158-table field on Monday afternoon across the NYC region, playing at the Hartes' Club. At Heritage HillsGlafkos Keramidas and Lisette Voorhees had the best score in C Stratification across a 132-table field on Thursday afternoon.

D3 GNT Finals
D3 GNT Finals

 

District 3 will hold its finals for the 2025 Grand National Teams competition, online on BBO on Saturday Feb. 15. Play will be divided into two Flights, determined by the player on each team with the highest masterpoint total. The first session will start at 10am.

The winners will represent District 3 at the Summer NABC in Philadelphia.

Farley Mawyer is coordinating the D3 GNT registration, his email information is listed on our Unit 188 website here. Entry deadline is February 13th.

Congratulations to Richard Zucker and Ethan Stein, who won the 2024 NAP District 3 finals in Flight A, with a 60 percent score!

Region 3

We are now a part of ACBL's Region 3, made up of Districts 3 and 4.

Passings

A memorial service for Julian Laderman, who played at the Bridge Deck, took place on Sunday, Oct. 22 at Lehman College in the Bronx. 

We sadly note the passings of several other members in 2023: Joan Katz and Eva Lampert. In late 2022 we lost Kathy Fino, Cheryl Feldman and Beverly Jansen, as well as Ingrid Zablauskas Nargi.
