Open On-line Autumn Series  – Competition Rules

The rules for the Shadwell Open On-line Autumn Series are as follows.

1. It is an Open competition, so anyone can enter.  Entrants must have rated themselves as Novice, Beginner or Intermediate on BBO and have a tournament completion rate of 95% or above. Players with a BBO ranking of above 7 will be allowed to play but will not be eligible for Prizes.
2. The competition will be played over 4 rounds running from September to December. There will be one round a month, usually on the second Monday of each month.
3. Handicaps

      Pairs will be handicapped based the following formula.

      Pair handicap = (player1BBOranking + player2BBOranking - 6) x -1.5

           Examples

           a pair who have BBO rankings of 6 and 6 will have a -9.00 handicap

           a pair who have BBO rankings of 5 and 4 will have a -4.50 handicap

           a pair who have BBO rankings of 2 and 2, will have a +3.00 handicap

4. To qualify for the prizes, you need to play with the same partner in at least 3 rounds, your best 3 scores counting.
5. For Mitchell type movements, the NS and EW winners will be awarded points equal to twice the number of tables, eg for a 5 table movement, the winners will each get 10 points, second place will get 8, third 6,fourth 4 and last 2. Where there are ties, points will be shared equally.
6. For Howell type movements, the winners will be awarded points equal to the number of pairs playing, eg for a 4.5 table movement, the winners will be awarded 9 points, second 8, third 7 and so on. The pair coming last will each get 1 point. Where there are ties, points will be shared equally.
7. The following prizes will  awarded to the pairs with the best overall points scores from their best 3 rounds.

      1st 10 BBO$ each

      2nd 6 BBO$ each

      3rd 3 BBO$ each

8. In the event of a tie, the prize will be shared equally.
9. In the event of any dispute regarding the competition the decision of the Shadwell Bridge Club Committee will be final.
