I do hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you good health for the new year.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the January Challenge.

                                Monday 20th January 2025.

A teacher recently spoke about her teaching bridge to young people

She remarked that she was not only teaching bridge but was teaching them life skills, partnership understanding, risk management, dealing with victory modestly, dealing with defeat  graciously, patience, understanding, accepting partner’s mistakes, avoiding criticism, putting a bad result behind you and biting one’s tongue…….the list went on and on.

That’s bridge. Thank you Kim for giving me the article.

What a wonderful turn out the club has been having on the Monday session.
I must congratulate Robert Chambers on all his efforts to ensure everyone is able to play bridge by securing the larger room.
Thank you very much.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Christmas bridge and lunch.

From the President - 7th November 2024

The Pathway Bridge event held on 6th November was a huge success.

We welcomed many of the Monday players and hope they had an enjoyable experience and will now be regular players on a Wednesday.

Many thanks to RACV for providing a splendid morning tea and an opportunity to mingle.

I look forward to seeing you at the bridge table.

I recently read an article in a bridge magazine that included this quote from the Chair of New Zealand Bridge.

"Poor behaviour by seasoned and experienced players is a real turn off.

"We need to call out these people, as we are working hard to grow numbers and do not need forces working against everything we are trying to do.

"You have two ears and one mouth, so listen twice as much as you speak."

Not only does this apply to us as bridge players, but is applicable to life in general.
