In early 2013 Gerald Snowden, the first president of the RACV Bridge Club, offered a perpetual trophy in memory of his wife to be awarded annually to the best player at the RACV Bridge Club. This trophy, first awarded in 2013, is presented each year at the RACV Bridge Club Christmas Luncheon by Gerald Snowden or the President of the RACV Bridge Club.  The Cup remains within the RACV City Club.  The winner’s name is inscribed at the base of the trophy, and the best player is presented with an inscribed, “take-home” medal.

The award is determined by the number of ABF masterpoints earned during the year at regular Monday and Wednesday sessions as well as the January Challenge, the RACV Bridge Congress and the Swiss Pairs Healesville Weekend. Points earned at Inter-club Challenges are excluded. The start date for scoring is from the January Challenge and the cut-off date is the second week in November.

Pat Snowden was an excellent Bridge player, who played at the then VBA. She was one of the original RACV Bridge group that commenced playing at the RACV in 1993/94. Her early partners were Marie Driscoll and Yvonne Jelbart before Gerald, her husband, was encouraged to join the group. He became her permanent partner in 1998.

Pat passed away in 2011. She is remembered each year with the Patricia Snowden Memorial Cup awarded to the Best RACV Bridge Club Player.
