However if you would like to improve your skills in bidding and card play, we offer a Tuesday afternoon session near Chiswick House Gardens.  The bridge is non-competitive, advice and tuition is available as needed. You don't need a pre-arranged partner.  Venue: Chiswick Tennis Club, Burlington Road, W4 3EU.  Cose to Chiswick BR station.  Buses from Richmond, etc,  Free parking in surrounding streets.  2.00-4.30pm every Tuesday afternoon.  No need to book but email or text appreciated (see contact details above) before your first visit.

Welcome to Putney Bridge Club
Good Standard Friendly Duplicate Bridge Every Monday - 7.30pm
Good Standard Friendly Duplicate Bridge Every Monday - 7.30pm

Putney Bridge Club was an established duplicate bridge club near the River Thames in South West London. We played at Winchester House, 10 Lower Richmond Road, Putney, London SW15 1JN.   At present we have not re-opened since the Coronavirus crisis.

Social or Improver Bridge
Despite the Putney game not re-opening, this website continues to be maintained as of Spring 2025.  Currently the Putney BC organiser Ned Paul offers bridge for improvers at various venues in London, including Nightingale Place in Clapham.  This is at 3 Nightingale Lane, SW4 9AH, immediately adjacent to Clapham South station or via G1 bus from Clapham Junction.  We meet 7.00pm-9.30pm every Wednesday evening and generally play social bridge or a 12-board duplicate.  The bridge is 'supported', i.e. one of our experienced tutors circulates and is available to answer questions and give advice as required.  This is a really and lively welcoming group of newer players, and improvers, refreshers and even beginners should find it congenial. The bar at Nightinagle Place is available to bridge players.

Other venues offering bridge at this standard include:  Chiswick Tennis Club, Burlington Lane, W4 3EU (Tuesdays 2.00pm-4.30pm) - see www.bridgewebs.com/newchiswick;  Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Hall. 222 Sheen Road, Richmond-upon-Thames TW10 5AN - see www.bridgewebs.com/olqp

Play & Improve Online

On Monday evenings we have an online 'gentle' duplicate.  Please note this is suitable for newer players, improvers and refreshers and is not an advanced game.  We play 12 boards in approx 2 hours, 6 x 2-board rounds (7.30pm-9.30pm).  We use the online bridge system RealBridge, where you can see and talk with the other players at your table each round.  We are normally about eight tables.  The bridge is supported: you can ask one of our tutors for advice at any point.  After the game a summary of the recommended way to bid and play the hands is circulated each week. Studying deals you have played for improvement is an excellent way of learning and the summary receives positive feedback from the players.  The group is open to all, including players with no pre-arranged partner, and we are very welcoming and friendly.  You do need to pre-book so that the numbers can be balanced.  To enquire about playing please email Ned Paul at ned_paul@outlook.com.  We use WhatsApp for group messages so include your mobile phone number if you would like to be added.

Our Former Venue - Winchester House
Our Former Venue - Winchester House

Winchester House is a beautiful Queen Anne riverside building, currently used by a private members club, the Winchester House Club. The venue is also used for weddings and corporate hospitality events.

We play in the first floor ‘River Room’ with views over the Thames. A licensed bar is available.

We are proud of this delightful venue and think it one of the best for duplicate bridge in London.

Please note the Club have asked the bridge players to observe a minimum dress code of ‘smart casual’. No jeans, no trainers, no T-shirts in the bar please!
