We currently inviting entries into this years Handicap teams event.

The exact format will be confirmed once we have the numbers but is intended to be the same principle as last year:  multiple teams - meaning each team will play all other teams every session.  We will be scoring using IMPs and handicaps will be applied as detailed below.  We have 6 sessions planned from October 2023 to March 2024, with an extra session available in May should we have a need to cancel a session in winter due to snow.  We will only count the best 5 results for each team from the 6 sessions for calculation of the overall competition result.

For those curious, we are following the EBUs formula for creating handicaps based on the teams NGS - this will be calculated using the NGS average for the 4 players taking part on a given night, using their current score.

Formula - average out the teams NGS then calculate their variance from 50%.  This variance is then multiplied by the number of boards being played (for 9 teams this will be 24 per session) and this total is multiplied by 0.3086.

For example, should a team's average NGS be 56%, then we take 6 and multiply this by 24 and then 0.3086 = 44.4384.  So that teams handicap will be -44 IMPs.

Similarly, should a team's average NGS be 46%, then we take -4 and multiply this by 24 and then 0.3086 = -29.62.  So, that teams handicap will be +30 IMPs.
