TOLLEMACHE 2019 |
Notts finished down the field in their qualifying group in the EBUs county teams of 8 championship despite winning three matches. However Tony Sowter & Willie Crook were the best pair in the group coming equal 1st of 87 players.
Special recognition should go to our captain Mark Goddard who formed two different scratch partnerships and coped with driving home from Daventry and returning early on Sunday morning. He still managed to finish 21st in the cross imp ranking.
Thanks also to Andrew Scott , Patrick Gaudart and Frank Ball who played throughout and also commuted, and to all the team for being flexible if not always successful.

Just a short note to flag up how brilliant the NCBA blue point event was on Sunday. This was the second in 2019, the first being daytime weekday. With 12 tables it was well supported from non Notts County players particularly Sheffield way. Definitely worth a repeat. Organisation was flawless directing hard work but efficient timekeeping kept things smooth. Everyone who played a part should feel proud that it was a successful event- well done guys. Now we just have to drum up a bit more interest amongst Notts players for the next one!

Premier League 2018 |
Ankush Khandelwal and Ben green were members of the team that finished third in division 1.
They were clear leaders in the cross imps ahead of the EBUs top international pairs.
Results on EBU site
The Premier League is a team of 4 Competition and replaced the Camrose Trials - the Winners of division one earn the right to represent England in the Camrose [the home countries international competition between England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland]. It has three divisions with promotion and relegation but only the winners of the top division play for England. In the first instance you apply to division three to be accepted as a team on the results you have had in National Competitions and then hope to be promoted eventually into the top division to give you a chance to represent your Country. Ankush's team finished third in division one and at one point were leading. However each pair like our County matches are butler imped and Ankush and his partner finished top in the butler imps doing better than all the pairs in the winning team. Very impressive.

DINAH MAIRS |
It is with great sadness that we have to report the death on 6th October 2016 of Dinah Mairs one of the best known and best loved players in the county.
In his message to members Mark Goddard the chairman of Nottingham Bridge Cub refers to her many years of service to the club, including her time as secretary and Chairman. Her involvement was widespread and dedicated to everyone at the club. She was, Mark suggests, the embodiment of what the members want the club to be.
