| Alcoholic drinks and club policy |
It is currently against the rules of BLC for visitors to bring their own drinks to the club. We are negotiating corkage with the new management for players who would like to bring their own. In the meantime, please observe the rule. Thank you.

| Finding a Partner |
A WhatsApp group has been set up for members who wish to use it to find members. Contact the club for details.
It is also possible for a logged in member to use the 'find a partner' tab in two ways:
The partner request is entered in the events calendar and is visible to any member with phone/email address of the requester.
A logged in member can send an email to selected members, asking if they would like to play. Again the email has the requester's contact details, so interested players can respond.

| Sunday Early Evening Bridge Anybody? |
Starting on Sunday 30th January, John Kemball will host a regular Bridge afternoon on Sundays, 6-9 pm. This is an opportunity to play in a relaxed and friendly environment, helping players to develop their confidence and gain experience playing duplicate Bridge.
The address: St Mary Magdalen church,SW18 2QU. The hall is accessed through a set of white doors situated to the right and behind the church house off Huguenot Place); the hall is on the 1st floor. It is a 5 minute walk from Wandsworth Town station or a short bus ride from Clapham Junction, served by buses every 2 minutes. Limited parking for 4 to 6 cars is available at the church or there should be plenty of spaces across the road on neighbouring streets, no parking restrictions are in place on a Sunday.

Table money will be £6, playing 20 or 24 boards and offering coffee, tea and biscuits. Initially, John will not have machine pre-dealt boards and hand records, but would look to move in that direction if the sessions prove to be a success. Brian Bridge will be used for scoring, presently the hall does not have WiFi, so players are asked to use their own internet connection.
If you come without a partner John will partner you up or play himself. Everybody will get a game. Winners will get a free game on their next visit.

| Competitions running throughout the year |
The Salver is a pairs competition held over twelve months, normally on the first Monday of each month. On each evening, all pairs finishing above halfway score points depending on their position. For each pair, only the best six scores achieved during the year will count. Prizes awarded to the first six pairs.
The Goblet is an individual competition held over the year, January to the first half of December.
All match-pointed pairs events other than first Mondays or Club Championships count towards this On each evening, both players of each pair finishing above halfway score points according to their rank. The competition is designed to encourage members to mix and play with different partners. It is therefore based on a member's best ten scores, but no more than two scores count with any one partner. A member playing with a non-member is still eligible to score points. Prizes: Awarded to members finishing in the top six positions.
Improver's Prize is a new competition running all year February to December; it will include all sessions played at the club (minimum 15). The person with the highest percentage increase in their NGS score will be judged the winner. Prizes for the first six.
