2023 AGM and New Season Competitions

The club's 2023 AGM is on September 27th at St Mary's Community Centre, starting at 7.15 p.m.  All are welcome, whether Wednesday or Thursday players.  The meeting will be followed by a (slightly) shortened pairs session.

The new season's competitions, also at the club, begin with the Championship Pairs on October 4th, alternating with the Positional Pairs that starts the following week on October 11th.

Keith Freeman

With much sadness, the recent death of Keith Freeman is reported.

Keith was a most regular member of the club for 25 years and, in partnership with David Crossland, a stalwart of the Malton B team.  He was playing at the club every week until the start of the Covid lockdown and then continued playing online until a day or two before he died, peacefully, in hospital.  Always courteous and unruffled as a partner or opponent, with a strong card sense, his gentlemanly manner and strong commitment will be sorely missed.

*** WEDNESDAY BRIDGE GOING ONLINE ***

Starting on 31st May, Wednesday evening bridge sessions will now be played online, on RealBridge, for the remainder of the summer, with a 'host' available for anyone without a pre-arranged partner.  (Thursday afternoons continue as normal at the club - members wanting face-to-face play are welcome to join in.)

Play will start at 7 p.m., though players should log in at least 5 minutes before.  Non-members are very welcome to join us.  Players will be invoiced at £1.50 per session.

Click JOIN WEDNESDAY SESSION to join.  The session on September 20th is the last online session this year.

MALTON SWISS PAIRS 2023

50 pairs competed in this event, including six pairs from the club.  Congratulations to the winners, Martha Jaynes and Jane Carpenter.  The leading club pair were Pauline Cooper and Richard Hilton in 6th place, closely followed by Madge Allison and Tricia Pearce in 9th.
