Time: 5.00 pm. Please arrive by 4.45 pm to find a park.
Light refreshments will be served after the Wednesday Pairs bridge session for players and those arriving to attend the AGM. Please note this is not a social bridge session.
A quorum of 15% of the total membership of 162. (24 people) is required for the meeting to proceed.
Nominations for the following positions are now open. Nominations forms are at the Clubhouse.
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- 3 Ordinary Committee members
Nominations of candidates for election must be made in writing, signed by 2 financial members of MBC, and with written consent of candidate, and returned to Secretary 7 days prior to the event ie by 4 pm, July 31, 2024.
Nominees for the four executive positions on the Committee, will be invited to submit in writing, their claim to the position (one page A4 with minimum 12 point font). These will be displayed on the website and in a folder in the clubhouse 6 days before the AGM.

Special Resolution - Background Information |
Special Resolution:
Due to recent changes to the fees set by Bridge NSW and the Australian Bridge Federation, a Special Resolution is proposed to alter Clause 8, Fees and Subscriptions, of the Current Maitland Bridge Club Inc Constitution 2013.
The wording of Clause 8 will be changed to:
(1) A member of the association must, on admission to membership, pay to the association a joining fee, as determined by the management committee.
(2) In addition to any amount payable by the member under subclause (1), all members of the association (home club and associate) must pay to the association an annual membership fee as determined by members at the annual general meeting. The annual membership fee must be paid within one month of the due date. In default of the payment a member shall be deemed to be unfinancial. The unfinancial member will lose the right to vote at meetings of the association and the right to pay table money at members’ rates.
(3) In addition to any amount payable by the member under subclause (1) and (2), all home club members of the association must pay to the association an annual affiliation/capitation fee as determined by the management committee, based on the fees charged by Bridge NSW and the Australian Bridge Federation. The annual affiliation/capitation fee must be paid within one month of the due date. In default of the payment a member shall be deemed to be unfinancial. The unfinancial member will lose the right to vote at meetings of the association and the right to pay table money at members’ rates.
(4) The membership year shall be 1 January to 31 December.
(5) In addition to any amount payable by the member under subclauses (1), (2) and (3) a member of the association shall pay the prescribed table fee when participating in games of bridge conducted by the association. This fee is determined by the management committee when considering the running costs of the club

Motion on Red Point (B4c) sessions for AGM |

Red Point Session Motion 1:
From 8 August 2024, Red Point (B4c) sessions at Maitland Bridge Club will only be available to financial members of Maitland Bridge Club. This will be documented on the calendar when events are scheduled to meet the ABF requirement of only advertising within the club, as visitors will not be able to enter these events.
Red Point Session Motion 2:
In addition to being a financial member of Maitland Bridge Club, players entering Red Point (B4c) sessions must have played at Maitland Bridge Club in Non-Special events at least six (6) times in the six (6) months prior to the start of the event, unless exempted by the President of MBC due to illness, extended travel or substantiated isolation.

Defibrillator Awareness & CPR Update |
Royal Life Saving (Hunter branch) has agreed to carry out our defibrillation awareness, along with a brief CPR update, on:
Monday 29 July 2024, between 1030 – 1130, at the club.
Defibrillators are becoming much more common place in the Community and are a valuable first aid tool.
19 members have shown an expression of interest in attending this brief.

Maitland is in the heart of the Hunter Valley and attracts players from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Singleton and outlying areas.
