Louise Griffin is the contact for finding partners at Maine Bridge on Tuesdays and Jan Williams on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month.

At the November meeting the Maine BC Committee passed a resolution that lifted the restriction on the level of experience that members of a partnership may have. Previously, two experienced players were not allowed to play together in Maine BC sessions. This restriction affected face-to-face bridge on Thursdays, special events (GNOT, Australia Wide Pairs) and online bridge. It did not apply to U3AMaine sessions on Tuesdays. The new rules are now in force.

The 2024 Summer Online Pairs finished yesterday after three weeks of competition.

Congratulations to the placegetters, who were:

3rd: Maureen Peck and Barry Waters

Congratulations to Robin Archer and Charles Young, who have won the 2024 Australia Wide Restricted Pairs. This is an enormous achievement, beating 1057 other pairs from around Australia. The competition was open to ABF members with less than 300 masterpoints. Other Maine members worthy of mention are Annie Wiltshire and Chris Dyson (in the top 20%), Sandy Noble and Ken Bessell (top 25%) and Jan Williams and Merlyn Pritchard (top 30%). Robyn and Charles will appear in an article in Australian Bridge. Everyone who played last Wednesday can check how they compared on each board at the competition website  AWRP results

After our AGM on Tuesday August 27 2024 we have two new members on the committee for our bridge club.

After deciding not to stand this year we thank Graham Forbes and Trisha McGregor for their previous contributions to the committee. 

We welcome Merlyn Pritchard as our new Secretary, Jan Williams as Vice President and Tracey Madden as a new committee member.

This bridge club is centered in Castlemaine, Victoria, Australia

Each week we run two/three bridge events

A 'face-to-face" Duplicate competition "U3AMBC"  is run weekly at 1:30pm Tuesdays throughout the year - in conjunction with U3A  Castlemaine

On the second and fourth Thursday of the month Maine BC runs a competition at the same time and place as our Tuesday bridge

Players are either Maine BC members or U3A Members - visitors are welcome

U3AMBC events are usually held at :

An "on-line" competition is run 1:30pm Wednesdays throughout the year

This is for Maine BC members and visitors located locally in the Castlemaine / Bendigo / Maldon area
