The Llanbrighton Congress will begin on Friday evening 13th June at 6:30pm with a drinks reception which is included in the Friday evening entry price, before an Open Pairs event (7:30pm). As this event is also the Welsh Bridge Union (nearly) Overseas Congress, this will see all players assigned to their relevant team for Wales v Rest of the World Trophy. Team Wales will be all pairs with a player eligible to represent Wales (birth/parent/grandparent/resident). This will be a standard Open Pairs event with an overall winning pair but additionally each team will have all their pairs scores added up and divided by the number of pairs on the team to get an average score - the highest average will win the first event of the weekend. Will it be Andrea's Team Cymru or Oliver's Team Rest of the World who are victorious?
Saturday at 12pm will see the first of the weekend Swiss events with a 6 x 8 board Swiss Pairs. At 3pm there will be a break for a late lunch* and after a restart at 4:30pm, play should finish about 7:30pm.
Sunday's Swiss Teams will start at the earlier time of 11am and after a lunch break* at 2pm and a restart at 3:15pm, we aim to finish about 6:15pm to allow those with long journeys to head home at a sensible time!
* a 3 course buffet meal is included in the entry price for each of the Swiss events. This is a nearly overseas congress and you wouldn't take your own lunch to an overseas congress!
There will also be a late night “Pêl Cyflym” (translation – “speedball”) on both nights with a time to be confirmed - these will each have a £5 entry fee which can be paid at the session when you know if you are in a fit state to play!
Both Swiss events include tea/coffee/snacks and sweet treats all day.
Enhanced Dragon Points awarded for both Swiss sessions. Prizes and Dragon Point conversion to prizes to be confirmed nearer the time!
