Q. When and where do you play?
A. We meet on Tuesday evenings at 7.15pm for a 7.25pm start. We play at the Danbury Sports and Social Centre - Danbury is a village approx 5 miles east of Chelmsford (See Location page for map)

Q. How big is the hall where you play?
A. The hall can accommodate up to 20 tables

Q. How easy is it to park?
A. Space is always available in one of the two car parks (See
Location page). Parking is free.

Q. What about refreshments?
A. The Social Club has a licensed bar , also tea and coffee are always available.

Q. How many people play at the club?
A. The number of tables generally averages between 10 and 12 each week

Q. Are all your members local?
A.  Most members come from local villages and nearby towns (eg Chelmsford , Maldon , South Woodham Ferrers) , but some members travel from further away.

Q. What is the standard of play at the club?
A. There is a range of abilities amongst the members of the Club , from those who are improvers from local Bridge classes to those members who play at County level. We welcome players of all abilities.

Q. My regular partner is unavailable - how can I find a partner for this week?

Q. I am not an EBU member - can I still play at the club?
A. Yes , we welcome all bridge players. Also see next FAQ.

Q. Are you affiliated to the EBU?

A. Yes we are , and under the terms of Pay to Play every person playing at the club is eligible , if they choose , to be treated as an EBU member and qualify for Master Points and all the other benefits associated with being an EBU member.

Q. I don’t have a regular partner / I am new to the area and don’t know anyone. Can you help?
A. Please contact the “Contact to arrange a bridge partner” Committee member whose details are on the Key information page

Q. How much does it cost to join the club / play each week?

Q. Can anyone join the club?
A. Yes - subject to normal application procedures , and consideration by the Committee

Q. How do I join the club?
A. We suggest that you visit the Club as a guest (See
Key information page for “Contact to arrange a bridge partner” should you not be able to visit with an existing member) Before you can join the Club you must formally apply , and have played at the Club on a number of occasions.

Q. Who should I contact if I want to find out more about the club?
A. Contact the Secretary - see Key Information page for contact details.

Q. Do you play Duplicate Pairs every week?
A. In our annual programme we play various different competitions (Pairs , Teams , Simultaneous Pairs , and others ) - see the Calendar page for details.

Q. Do you play any competitions outside of club night?
A. In the winter we run an evening Internal League competition for teams of four from the club.

Q. Do you participate in any County / National competitions?
A. The Club participates in a number of Simultaneous Pairs competitions during the year.

Q. Do you issue Master Points?
A. Yes , we are affiliated to the EBU , so Master Points can be won every week. NB these are now issued centrally by the EBU based on the scores we submit every week.


Q. How can I check my Master Points?
A. Go to the EBU website www.ebu.co.uk , click on ‘Master Points’ then click on ‘Check Points online’ and then enter your EBU membership number.

Q. How / when are Tuesday night’s results published?
A. Results are emailed to everyone on a club distribution list (anybody can ask to be included on the list) usually by the next morning. In addition , results are posted to the website , where there is further analysis by travellers and by scorecards.
