Kirkbymoorside Bridge Club Constitution
Aims
The aim of the club shall be the playing, enjoyment and promotion of bridge in a friendly and courteous manner.
Membership
Membership is open to all who have paid their annual subscription for the current year.
The annual subscription shall be agreed at the AGM and will run from one AGM to the next.
Anyone who joins the club part way through the year may be granted a reduced subscription at the discretion of the committee.
In considering applications for membership, the committee shall have regard to the playing facilities
available, and may occasionally decide that the club shall be closed to new members.
Any member whose subscription, after a due reminder, has not been paid for 4 weeks after the due date shall cease to be a member.
Members are required to conform to a good standard of fair play and courtesy at club events.
Membership may be terminated by the committee if it is felt to be in the best interests of the club.
Management
The club will be run by a management committee elected at the AGM.
The committee will consist of a chairman/director, secretary, treasurer and up to three additional
members. Two of the principal roles may be held by one person.
A quorum at meetings of the committee shall be three members of the committee, two of which
must be officers of the committee.
Subject to this constitution, the control of the club’s business shall rest with the committee. Any
matter not dealt with specifically within this constitution may be determined by the committee
subject to the authority of an EGM convened in accordance with this constitution.
The committee will keep a register of members which will include details of their names, addresses
and contact details. These will only be used in the interests of the club and in accordance with the
data protection act 2018.
Meetings
Notice of an Annual or Extraordinary General Meeting shall be given to members at least 14 days prior to the meeting.
Any member may propose a motion at the AGM, provided notice is given to the chairman or secretary one week in advance of the meeting.
Voting at General Meetings of the club shall be by show of hands. In the event of a tie, the chairman shall have the casting vote.
An Extraordinary General meeting of the club may be called at any time of the year by the committee or by the written request of not less than 3 members of the club.
Finance
The Club's financial year runs from December 1st to November 30th. Subscriptions shall be due for payment no longer than 4 weeks after the AGM.
Table money for members and visitors shall be collected weekly.
The table money raised from subscriptions and table money shall be used solely for the benefit of the club and its members unless it has been
notified in advance that the event held to benefit a charity.
An annual financial statement shall be provided to the club at the AGM.
Dissolution of the club
If the club is deemed to be no longer viable, it may be dissolved by a majority vote of existing paid up members at the AGM or EGM of the club.
The committee will be responsible for paying all outstanding debts, disposing of equipment and distributing any remaining club funds equally
among the present membership.
