CHAIRMANS REPORT ............Duncan, resplendent in his red trousers gave a comprehensive report on his year in office. He reminded the Members of their need to display exemplary behaviour at all times and that it had been necessary for the Club to invoke its Disciplinary powers during the year.
Duncan thanked all Members who had freely given their time to assist in the smooth running of the Club, particularly those Committee Members who were standing down from roles they had occupied for many years, John Tyrrell, Nick Turner and Hugh Fido.
Duncan commented on the success of initiatives to encourage new members, the mentoring service initiated by Hugh and Carol Fido and the Wednesday Afternoon Club for beginners and improvers.
TREASURER and AUDITOR REPORTS ..............Nick Turner reported a surplus of £1000 for the year. The major expense in replacing the dealing machine was covered by The Club's insurance. Club funds at the year end were £5710.72.

Principal changes being the creation of Club President and removal of Senior Club Director from the Committee and Constitution. NEWSLETTER MAY 2016
New Club Committee and Changes to the Constitution
The new Committee elected at the AGM on the 18th April
Chairman......Nick Turner Hon. Secretary......Roger Markwick
Hon. Treasurer......David Warry
Committee Members Jo Williams..........Hilary White..........Chris Hiorns
Hon. Auditor..........Eric Rochester
The Constitution and Role changes agreed at the AGM have all been updated on the website.
Wednesday Afternoon Club
The new Club is now into its 8th week and has been very well supported. Over 50 players have attended, with average table numbers around 7.
David and I would like to thank those members who have attended regularly to help us launch and run the event.
If you too would like to help, please give me a ring or drop me an e mail so that I can plan to make sure we always have a few bodies to make up tables etc.
If you know anyone who has recently learnt to play or wants to improve their game, ask them to join us on a Wednesday 2-4.45pm. Better still, come along with them.
Club Directors
As you may well be aware 5 Club Members passed the recent Club Directors course at Faversham. Andrew Montgomery and Roger Markwick will be Directing regularly, Pat Sainsbury and David White will cover absences. Tony White will gain experience over the coming months at Swalecliffe as he will not be taking his assessment until September. Ann Davies was also successful and will direct at Tyler Hill.
We now have 2/3 Directors for each venue so should be well placed as a Club going forward.
Please call for the Director whenever something goes wrong, however trivial. Please DO NOT ATTEMPT to correct the matter yourself.
The Director is there to ensure the smooth running of the Event and to help should anything go amiss.
Monday Host System
My recent E-Mail to Club Members seems to have fallen mostly on stony ground. I am looking for hosts for the 6th June, 18th July and then for the rest of the year.
There are enough regular players on a Monday evening to ensure that everyone only has to host once a year. Remember you receive a FREE evenings bridge whether or not you are required to host. If you have not yet hosted, please let me have 2/3 dates when you can.
I have also reduced the time frame by ONE HOUR during which players can call on Bridge Days if they are seeking a partner. Calls should now be made between noon and 4pm. The Host on Monday's will be advised at 4pm if they are required to play. This has been amended as I receive few requests after 2pm.
Website
There have been a number of changes to the website recently. Please let me have any feedback, positive or otherwise. I will be expanding on the teaching side, mainly on tactics and card play and also introducing a Director’s feature to make players more aware of when they should be calling the Director.
