Advanced Tutorials on Squeeze Play Starting January 24

Danny Kane, Grand Master has played in the Scottish Open and  Senior teams, the Camrose,, European and Olympiad Teams to name but a few. He has offered to host a series of 10 tutorials at the GBC on "Squeeze Play". This will progress throughout the course from  simple squeezes to more and more advanced techniques. 

The course will run on Thursday nights from 7pm - 930pm. 
This course is aimed at 1st division and aspiring 1st division players. The course cost is £100 for 10 sessions. However you can register for the first session and pay £10  and if you feel it is not suitable for you, you can then withdraw. Following the first session all participants would be expected to pay for the full course. 

The hands below are examples of the plays Danny will be discussing. Although both hands contain the same cards the play/stategy is different. To play the hand for yourself Click on the hand below , then  Click Play then select the cards. To get back to the beginning click Exit. If you want to see how the hand should be played  click Play then keeping clicking Next and the hand will play out. Click Rewind to get back to the start.

This hand demonstrates a  “simple positional squeeze” 
2.Hand 2 
This 2nd hand uses a “Strip Squeeze”.

Our proposed new premises at Hillington

The proposed new premises at Hillington are currently owned by the British Red Cross. You can find more information about the property HERE.

The building can be accessed via the M8; the Clyde Tunnel; Paisley Road West. The Hillington East Railway station which is on the Weymss Bay/Paisley/Glasgow Central route is a 6 minute walk and the No 9 bus passes the building. (The route travels From Buchanan Street through Tradeston, Kinning Park, Cessnock, Bellahouston, Cardonald to Hillington.)

The Victor Goldwater Trophy was won by Alan Livingstone

The West District Pairs was won by Paul Maiolani and Jim McMenemy

The Arthur Trophy was won by Mike McGinley & David Wiseman

The Bowman Trophy was won by David Shenkin & Martin Diamond

The Lord Thomson Trophy was won by Kevin Strathearn and Nat Fell

The Stirling Pairs was won by Paul Maiolani and Jim McMenemy

The Club Championship was won by Alan Brodie and Gerry Murray

The Bronze Championship was won by Roy Levine and Alyson Raworth

The Clarendon Trophy was won by Derek Diamond, Robert Clow Mike McGinley and Brian Spears

5th National Swiss Pairs was won by Paul Maiolani

The Winter Swiss Teams was won by Angus Macdonald & Kevin Strathern

1st Grand Prix Swiss Pairs was won by Barnet & Maggie Shenkin

2nd Grand Prix Swiss Pairs was on by Barnet Shenkin(with Steve Levinson)
