Relocation of Emsworth Bridge Club to the Denvilles Club, Havant
The reason for this proposal is that complaints have been received about conditions in the ESSC bridge room which is cold in the winter, sometimes noisy from the adjoining room/bar and in need of maintenance. Discussion centred around the physical aspects of the Denvilles card room which is comfortably large enough for five tables (but six possible at a squeeze), is warm, has ample parking and access to hot and cold drinks at the bar. However membership would have to be restricted in view of the size of the room. Finances were considered and it was suggested that table money of £2/3 would cover the hire cost. The Emsworth Bridge Club has ample funds to cover any shortfall.
Concerns were aired, questions answered and discussion continued but there was no definitive outcome. It was therefore decided that David would raise concerns about the conditions in the club room when he next attends a liaison meeting with ESSC and that he would report back, and that a trial evening would be arranged for Emsworth Bridge Club members to play one Tuesday evening at the Denvilles Club sometime after the end of May.
The meeting closed at 19.00
