If you like a game of cards, like a new puzzle to solve and fancy meeting some new people, Bridge might just be for you.

People learn the game in many ways. Maybe you've played a bit before, maybe you've played other games. Lessons are a great start, to learn the basics and establish partnerships and friendships with others learning the game too. Others might want to read a little to get the basics. Playing the game in Assisted Play sessions, or Gentle Bridge sessions move things on from theory to actually playing the game. Mistakes and triumphs are all part of the pleasure!

The club runs a series of lessons based on the EBU 'Bridge For All Programme' They are organised and led by an EBTA qualified teacher.

A small group learn together in a relaxed, friendly and fun environment.

Our current series of beginner lessons is running on Monday evenings, from 7 - 9 pm.

Improver lessons, based on Book 2 of 'Bridge For All' start on Sunday 20th October at 2.30 pm with a short recap of Book 1.

We run weekly 'Assisted Play' sessions for learners and improvers, throughout the year, and a 'gentle bridge' session to enable learners to practise their game along with other newcomers.

There is no one approach to learning Bridge. Lessons, reading books are all good, and suit some people better than others. However, with the basics absorbed, actually playing some hands of Bridge, making some mistakes, and having a few triumphs are all the better! 'Assisted Play' and 'Gentle Bridge' sessions are a great way to learn and enjoy the game too.

Assisted Play sessions take place on Tuesday mornings, and Gentle Bridge on Wednesday evenings. See the Calendar Month page for times.

The EBU have announced changes to the laws on announcing - EBU page 'New Alerting, Announcing and Bidding Rules' The new Blue Book and White Book are now available and came into force on 1st September, 2022. There are changes to announcements and the rules for strong bids.
