We are getting up to 8 tables on Weds and some players missing. We once used to get 15 or 16 tables but that's decades ago - do come along ( and bring a friend )..! The hall still has capacity for more.

Beeny ( and Foulger ) Cup

Wednesday 18th September saw the end of the Beeny Cup year. This relates to average results for the third Wednesday session of every calendar month. Results are now posted under Competitions on the menu list. Congratulations to Terry and Reggie for winning the Beeny ( by a tiny margin! ) and to Kevin and Peter Laws for coming second and winning the Foulger Cup.

For next season, we may introduce a handicapped competition for the Foulger Cup ( Beeny still for top pair ) which will depend on your current and comparative NGS ( National Grading Scheme ) scores. This depends on Terry figuring out how to upload current NGS grades ( having trouble! ).

We've included all pairs in the second list of results shown but remember, for future events, that you need to play at least 6 times with the same partner over the 12 months to qualify.

Hosting: We have re-instated our hosting system meaning that visitors can be sure of a game when they attend. Ivy will be asking members to offer to be host ( on a Wednesday afternoon ) from time to time. The only person who will ever not get a game will be the host who will get a free game subsequently should that happen. We would still be grateful if potential players call first and we will arrange a partner prior to the date. Contact Denise Mabey by email at denise.mabey@hotmail.com

Love Stats..?

Our duplicate session is every Wednesday, starting at 1pm for 1.15 (approx. 3 and a quarter hours ).

We're getting a good turnout on Wednesdays, up to 8 tables and hoping for more.

For those who prefer to play evenings, we also meet every Thursday, starting at 6pm for 6.15.

We've recently had a  surge of interest from new members. Hopefully there will be enough members to play duplicate. Please get in touch with Ivy Mcgeorge if you are interested in swelling the numbers.  Ivymcgeorge@hotmail.co.uk

We are based at Mycenae House. See Information for further details.

We have held our AGM as usual since the lockdown. Among other things, we voted to remain affiliated to the English Bridge Union. We have also had a changing of the guard, with Rosemary Lloyd taking over as Treasurer. We wish Ron Andrews all the best and many thanks for his 30 years in the role.

The club is affiliated to the EBU and master points are awarded.

If you have no partner our Pairing Officer can usually find you someone.

On Wednesday afternoons there is disabled access and there is a ( slow but sure ) stair-lift which some players may need on Thursdays.

Most of us play simple systems (4 card or 5 card majors) though no systems are excluded.

Click here for more details about the club and site including fees, transport and facilities.
