Kings Sutton Bridge Club - Constitution and Rules
- The object of the club is to promote the playing of duplicate bridge.
- Members present at the Annual General Meeting of the club will elect for the following year the members of a committee,
including Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. One member will propose and another second nominations and the meeting will make a decision by a show of hands.
The committee may co-opt other members during the year and assign them roles as they deem necessary for managing the club
– to continue on the committee these members must be re-elected at the following AGM.
- The committee will decide on the date of the Annual General Meeting and give at least four weeks’ notice of it to members,
including a copy of the club accounts. Members should give two weeks’ notice to the secretary of items they wish to raise at the AGM.
- At the AGM the treasurer will present the club accounts.
- The committee will convene a Special Meeting of the club when two members have put forward any business they wish to discuss at such a meeting.
- One member will propose and another second all propositions and meetings will make decisions by a show of hands.
In the case of a tie the Chairman has the casting vote.
- The committee will arrange the programme for the year and set the annual subscription and table money for each event.
The club will welcome visitors.
- Visitors will ‘play themselves in’ for two events which will be free of charge.
If they wish to play in future sessions they must then complete a membership form and pay the appropriate subscription for the full or part year.
- If the committee believes that a member’s conduct is detrimental to the reputation or good order of the club the committee has the power to suspend them for a period of time or ask them to leave the club.
