Spring Saver 2018 |
Posted 24 February 2018 Author Young Chelsea
From Monday 26 February, you can play on Monday and Wednesday evenings for just £5.00 per session, as long as you have played in one of our weekly duplicates in the previous six days. That means that you can play four times a week at the club for just £25.00, or even three times a week for £15.00 (not including Fridays). It’s a special offer, rather than a long term change in policy, but we’ll see how it goes. It’s a very good reason to start coming to the club more often…

Thursday Afternoon Duplicate Summer Suspension |
Posted 6 June 2018 Author Louisa Spawls
We have decided to suspend Thursday afternoons till after the summer, as we can’t compete with the sunshine… We have gradually pulled in more people to play, and had quite a few foreign visitors but we need to be a bit stronger before we can survive the summer lull… Hopefully next year.
Please put 6 September in your diary—our next Thursday afternoon duplicate. Meanwhile, why not come to either Monday or Wednesday evenings?

YCKO 2017 Winners |
Posted 17 September 2018 Author Young Chelsea
The winner of the very‑late‑running final of the YCKO 2017 was team BOWLES, which beat team CALLAGHAN by 23 IMPs on Friday 14 September. Both team turned out in full. Team BOWLES comprised Graham Osborne, Frances Hinden, Sally Brock, Barry Myers, Mike Scoltock, and Andy Bowles. (The reclusive Andy Bowles had to leave before the prize was presented and escaped being pictured.) Team CALLAGHAN comprised David Burn, Joe Fawcett, Richard Granville, Heather Dhondy, and Brian Callaghan.
Team CALLAGHAN, which was behind by 42 IMPs after 48 deals, exercised the right as undefeated team to play a further eight deals, but there was too much to do.
Congratulations to the worthy winners who received a £1,000 prize; the runners‑up had to be content with £400.
Team BOWLES is eligible for a play‑off match against the team that won the 2018 London Championship Teams‑of‑Four to decide who will represent London in the 2019 Lederer invitation tournament.
