On-line Bridge |
Since the Covid pandemic, on-line bridge has become much more popular. Warrington Bridge Club offers two regular sessions per week of on-line bridge, using the RealBridge platform. It's a great system: it has video and sound, so you can see and talk to the people round your "table", much like playing face to face.
- Tuesday evenings, 7pm Duplicate Pairs
- Friday evenings, 715pm Duplicate Pairs
In addition to organised online bridge, members might also want to have relaxed on-line games with friends. This is easy to do on BBO, using their Casual Bridge option. To make it easier for members to find each others' details, there is a field in our Member List, showing the BBO username for those who have registered for it. Go to the Member Area tab, and log in. To log in to the Member Area, you'll need your email address and password. If you don't know your password, enter your email address and click on the password reset button. You'll receive a password reset email; note that, depending on your email settings, it might go in your junk/spam folder. Open the password reset email, and follow the instructions. Choose Member List, and all the relevant information is displayed: Member's name, BBO username, email address, phone number, and mobile number (where members have agreed for this information to be displayed in the Member Area).
Note: The Member List also now includes EBU number, as some members have been asking where to find this.

It allows unlimited play in the Guest MPS (Bridge4Free) Room and provides an easy way to evaluate the software and review the options available. Discounts apply for membership over a certain number of years (a loyalty discount); there is also a rebate on the next year's fees if your amount of usage of the site (number of boards played) is below a threshold.
BridgeClubLive is a well run friendly site, with regular completions organised, as well as the ability to drop in as you please. A key advantage of choosing a paid membership is the ethics system: people are not allowed to be rude or to drop out in the middle of a hand, so you can concentrate on playing bridge. They have a useful grading system, so that after each session you can assess how well you did, considering both your score and the quality of the opposition. If you have a registered partnership, there are leagues to enter. BridgeClubLive opearte a pairs championship, a big knock out competition which starts in September, with the final in the new year.
Some BridgeClubLive players play mostly with arranged partners, while some drop in as and when they like and find someone with whom to play. Paid membership is good value if you to play there once a week or more. Several of our members can be found playing on this site.
