Orlin Leslie Norder

Orlin Norder, Age 87, formerly of Brandywine Hundred, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003.
Born in Mt. Olive, IL, he was the only child of the late Frank G. Norder, Jr. and Emma Lascher Norder. He graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana, IL in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a chief analytical chemist for 32 years, retiring from Sun Olin in Marcus Hook, PA in 1977. Orlin was as an avid and accomplished bridge player and director, and served as the 15th President Delaware State Bridge Association in 1969.
He was married for 51 years to Orpha Marie Garner Norder. The couple was known for their love of, and excellence in, ballroom dancing.
Orlin was preceded in death by his wife in 1992 and by his daughter, Linda Norder Deveney in 1998. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Ballard of Olympia, WA and Jan Lewis of Landenberg, PA; grandson, Patrick Brumbaugh; granddaughters, Leslie Morris and Jennifer, Lauren and Erin Lewis; and great grandchildren, Logan and Mackenzie Morris.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services on Monday, January 13 at 11:30 in the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyville, where friends may call after 11. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 15285 Shady Grove Rd., Rockville, MD 20850. The Delaware State Bridge Association will run a charity event for Alzheimer's Disease Research in Orlin's Memory later this spring.
