Announcement of Unit 179 Officers and Other Exciting Unit News
We installed our 2025 Unit 179 Board of Directors and elected the Unit officers.
Our Unit 179 Officers are:

Congratulations to our officers who will lead Unit 179 in 2025.
We have some exciting initiatives and celebrations planned for 2025.
Education Committee: We are excited to introduce our newly formed Education Committee, a dedicated group of bridge enthusiasts committed to enhancing the bridge community and ensuring the future growth of the game. The committee chaired by Jon Young and Michelle Coop, will focus on two key initiatives:
- Educational Talks and Information Sessions for Current Players: The committee will be hosting regular talks and workshops to provide valuable insights, improve playing techniques, and help bridge players of all levels deepen their understanding of the game. These sessions will cover a variety of topics, from advanced strategies to the nuances of tournament play, and will be a great opportunity for players to engage, learn, and grow together.
- Bridge Outreach Programs in Schools: In addition to supporting current players, the Education Committee will be working closely with local schools to introduce students to the world of bridge. This will include after-school programs, introductory lessons, and efforts to identify talented young players who may go on to become the next generation of bridge champions.
We believe these efforts will not only strengthen our current community but also help bridge (pun intended!) the gap to ensure the game's future is in good hands.
We look forward to the positive impact this committee will have on both current players and aspiring talents.
To kick off the first of a series of short talks by experienced bridge players, Unit 179 proudly presents Chuck Said who will discuss the various meanings of “Double”.
Chuck is a Grand Life Master with nearly 48,000 master points. Chuck has won 5 North American Bridge Championships and placed 2nd in 4 others. He currently ranks 12th on the all time master points holders in North America.
The presentation will be February 22, 2025 at Vanderbilt Bridge Club on 85 White Bridge Road in Nashville at 11:30 AM. You don’t want to miss this and best of all, it is open to all bridge players, regardless of experience, and it’s free!
Winter Fun Sectional February 26 - March 1. We are excited to invite bridge players of all levels to join us for the upcoming Nashville Winter Sectional, taking place from February 26th to March 1st.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner looking to improve, this event has something for everyone!

Coming Soon in 2nd Quarter:
The Goodwill Committee is currently planning two special events to celebrate our members' achievements in the second quarter of this year!
- Life Master Celebration: We will be honoring those who have reached Life Master. This will be a wonderful occasion to recognize the dedication and hard work of our members who have achieved this milestone.
- Mini-McKenney and Ace of Club Awards Celebration: We’ll also be hosting a separate celebration to recognize the outstanding achievements of our Mini-McKenney and Ace of Club award recipients.
