REVISED AGENDA for the ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

  9. Committee’s Proposals for amendments to the Constitution – see addendum attached or the     Constitution on the Website www.bridgewebs.com/staffsshrops:
    1. In Clause 3.1: Remove Master Points Secretary, Education Officer;  Add Webmaster,  Auditor; Amend E.B.U. Club Representative to Regional Club Representative.
    2. In Clause 3.1: Amend “a further” to “up to” on the line below the list.
    3. In Clause 3.5: Remove the final sentence (because we no longer use cheque books, and all transactions are made at the behest of a Committee member).
    4. In Clause 4.3: add “and by paying the County fee to the Association or by being a paid-up playing- member of an Affiliated Club.  Such a player would not be eligible to represent the County in major EBU Competitions”.
    5. In Clause 4.6: inserting “player” before member; deleting “and” in and/or.
    6. In Clause 6.11 amend “fifteen” to “eight or ten” paid-up members.
  10. Election of Officers.
  11. Approval sought to retain the County membership fee at £5 per annum and the County element of UMS at 6p per player.
  12. Any Other Business.

Amendments to the S&SCBA Constitution

Amendments to the Agenda for the AGM on 1st September 2024,
(following consultation with the EBU)

  1. In Clause 4.3: add “and by paying the County fee to the Association or by being a paid-up playing-member of an Affiliated Club. Such a player would not be eligible to represent the County in major EBU Competitions”.
  2. In Clause 4.6: add after an annual subscription to the Association....

The relevant Clauses with Amendments shown

Clause 3.1. The management of the affairs of the Association shall be vested in the following Officers:- Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Competitions Secretary, County Captain, Membership Secretary, Webmaster, EBU Representative and Regional Club Representative; with up to six other members of the Association.......

Clause 3.5. (last sentence) . The signatures of the Treasurer and one of two other authorised members of the Executive Committee shall be required on the paperwork for the payment of sums of monies in excess of £500 out of the Association.

Clause 4.3. A Player Member of the EBU whose primary allegiance is not with the Association can become a member of the Association by meeting its terms and conditions in force at the time of the request for membership and by paying the County fee to the Association or by being a paid-up player-member of an Affiliated Club. Such a player would not be eligible to represent the County in major EBU Competitions.

Clause 4.6. A member of the Association becomes a paid up player-member through payment of any Association Pay-to-Play county component when participating in events at an affiliated Bridge Club or through payment of an annual subscription to the Association for their Association membership category.

Clause 6.11. The quorum for an AGM and EGM shall be eight (or ten) paid-up members.
