The SML Bridge Club prides itself in being a friendly, all-volunteer organization. We were created in the 1980s to provide a venue for bridge players in the Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia area. We play duplicate bridge pairs every Tuesday and Friday throughout the year, averaging more than 5 tables each playing day. Visitors are always warmly welcomed.  

We are not affiliated with the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League), so no master points are awarded, but we adhere to the ACBL rules and policies.   

We award a 50% No-Play score to both teams if there is not a lead card on the table after all other tables have completed play on that round (i.e. no judgment is made by the director).

We use the Dealer4 dealing machine, along with Bridgemate scoring tablets for quick and accurate results at the end of play. Results and hand records are posted on this website.

We follow Bedford County, Virginia's lead in cancellations due to weather events. If they have shut down schools or government offices, we will probably do so also. 

A broadcast email will be sent to all on our email list by 10:00 a.m. the morning of our Tuesday/Friday bridge meetings.

SML Duplicate Bridge Tolerance Policies

The purpose of the policy is to create a pleasant atmosphere and safe environment at the club and requires that all players be courteous hosts and guests at the tables.
