Prize Winners

Huge congratulations to Christine Hudson and Gordon Sobey who are this year's winners of the Ruddles Cup. Almost 3% points ahead of second placed Ben and Joan Gibson, Christine and Gordon put a considerable distance between themselves and the rest of the field, as well as supporting the event brilliantly by attending a fantastic 16 out of  18 rounds. They will be presented with the Cup at the AGM on the 25th April.

Mercury Competition

In the evening session of Wednesday 4th of June, the Club will take part in the Mercury Competition. This is a 'no fear' style pairs event, played in our Club and at other venues throughout the area. The same boards will be played at all venues, and the results will then be amalgamated to establish an overall winner. Entry is restricted to graduates of the Beginners/Improvers Courses or who are new to Bridge and in all cases have 199 masterpoints or below. It will be ideal for most members who play the Monday, Wednesday and Thursday gentle duplicate sessions. Participation must be booked in advance for organisation reasons, please make your entry on the form below. The normal table fee of £3 will apply.

Click the heading for details of this really exciting evening. Reservations are on a first come basis, and initially only open to members. If there are spaces left at the beginning of May, these will be offered externally. The cost of the evening is £5.00 per person, which will be included in the normal May statement. You may cancel up to the 1st May, but cancellations after that date will still be charged. If you would like to reserve a place, please submit the form below. If you would like a copy of Ben's book for £7.50, tick the box and this will also be included in the statement.

Are you interested in learning to play Bridge? We will be running a course for Beginners starting in October 2025. For further details, click on "Beginners" (above). If you would like to register interest, please submit this form.

Gentle Duplicate

Gentle Duplicate is played on Mondays (21 boards, 1315 for 1330 start, finish around 1600), Thursdays (18 boards, 1245 for 1300 start, finish around 1530) and from 16th April Wednesdays (15 boards, 1845 for 1900 start finish around 2130). On Mondays and Thursdays we generally have 4-6 tables. The sessions are not EBU accredited and are aimed at those who enjoy duplicate without the pressure of fully competitive play. The sessions are hosted, which means you can come without a partner and be guaranteed to play.

Competitive Duplicate

Competitive Duplicate is played on Tuesday evenings (1845 for 1900 start, finish around 2200) and Friday afternoons (1315 for 1330 start, finish around 1615). We generally have 4 to 6 tables at each session and play 21-24 boards. The sessions are EBU accredited and masterpoints are awarded.
