Teams report, April 2025

The Chairman has already congratulated the A team on winning the Wessex League. Now that all matches have been played, there are several other achievements to celebrate.

Wessex League (evening)

Div 1. The A team won all their matches; and their last match, a victory over Menagerie A, confirmed that they have won the division. The B team won two and lost four matches, finishing in 5th place and so preserving their place in div 1 for next season.

Div 2. The C team won two and lost three matches; they finished third in a very tight division, missing promotion by just over 3 VPs.

Div 3. The D team won four matches and lost one narrowly, and are certain of promotion to div 2 for next season.

Div 4. The E team won all their matches and can expect to be promoted to div 3 for next season. The F team won one of their matches and finished 5th out of six teams.

Wessex League (daytime)

Div 1. Horspath won all their matches and won the division. The Blue team won one and lost five matches. Cherwell lost all their matches. Blue and Cherwell can expect to lose their place in div 1 for next season.

Div 2. The Frideswide team won all their matches, finishing in 1st place and are certainties for promotion to div.1. The Isis team drew one and lost five matches and are certain to be relegated.

Div 3. The Bodleian team won five of their six matches; while the Ashmolean team won four of their six matches, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively. Both can expect to be promoted.

National Inter-Clubs Knock-Out Competition (NICKO)

The A team lost their 1st round match in the main competition; they beat Menagerie A in the 1st round of the Plate and are due to play Bedford in the 2nd round.

The B team won their 1st round match in the main competition but lost to York BC in the 2nd round.

The C team lost to Bath B in the 1st round of the main competition; and lost in the 1st round of the Plate competition.

The D team beat Bath A in the 1st round of the main competition and beat Petersfield in round 2 but lost in round 3.
