Minutes from the NCBA meeting held 29^th October 2024

1. Apologies for absence: Mark Goddard. David Treharne having problems obtaining the zoom link.

Present: Roger Stock, Jenny Leggott, Clare Batten, Jane Hall, Shirley Ashtari, Keith Spencer, Julia Staniforth, Sue Wright, Chris Frost, Ewa Hardwick

2. Approval of the minutes of meeting held on 31^st July 2024. Approved subject to minor changes.

3. Matters Arising from the Minutes not Contained Within Other Agenda Items

4. Determination of the 24/25 calendar of events
   1. Journal Cup (County pairs Corwin qualifier) -this date has to be move as Keith can no longer TD 16th March 25 Clare TD and Mark to set up RealBridge,
   2. Teams (Pachabo qualifier) - provisionally booked at NBC for 2nd February 2-02-25 move to April if players qualify for Tollemache. Mark will set the RealBridge up
   3. Future Green Point and Blue point events possibly 6/7/25 Clare looking at costing depending on the venue. Possibly Spondon but will check the possibility to be held in Woodborough and Keyworth, then possibly Blue Point also in Spondon. Possibly

Tuesday

1. 4. 9 High Corwin Qualifier 2-03-25 marketing is the issue. Shirley to email, Sue produce Flyers, Ewa Flyers to Clubs. Should be level 2. Will be held  in Nottingham

Club

4. 5. County AGM date to be agreed at the next meeting.
   6. Mixed pairs 1^st dec, minced pies, mulled wine and nonalcoholic drinks. All can take part including the same sex pairs but only Nottinghamshire pair can win.  
5. Report on green point event held on 22nd September.

Successful event, £326 profit, 56 players (14 tables). Good profit as did not require EBU TD.

Feedback: would be nice to have large screen with results and results at half time.

Future events: better marketing. Shirley emails, Sue flyers, Ewa information to clubs. App for directing called Bridge Director, results can be seen on the phone, link to be published, contact name in case anyone needs to get in touch,

6. Treasurer’s report  

Just about covering the costs, Nat West account with £3K not earning interest to be moved.  

1. 7)     Team of 8 league. No issues. BBO charge looks like an error but waiting for final resolution. Shirley has a query why Retford is in second division being a good team. Jane explained that the rules were correctly applied regarding promotions and new entries to the league.

8. EBU AGM: changes to the shareholders power, election of the chair. EBU does not pick the cost attending. Clare to attend the meeting virtually.

Is not likely that there will be any change at the county level.

9. County constitution another person needed on the subcommittee. Clare, Sue and Ewa to meet and make a decision,

10. Coaching of county team – Steve can not do next one, but offered masterclass, use Nottingham Club for masterclasses, available to all, but state the level, offer it to County players first, then others, Shirley to market, try to get more people to run,  

11. County Website – content and maintenance. Looking better, links to results of events advertised in the calendar to be included.
