Minutes of Committee Meeting to be Held Remotely on Wednesday 31st July

2024 at 5.00 pm

1)     Welcome to new members of the committee and apologies for absence: Jenny Leggott, Apologies from Mark Goddard. 
Present Roger Stock, Julia Stanniforth, Clare Batten (Chair), Shirley Ashtari, Jane Hall, Sue Wright, Ewa Hardwick

2)     Approval of the minutes of meeting held on 3rd July 2024 (enclosed)  Approved

3)     Matters Arising from the Minutes not Contained Within Other Agenda Items None

4)     Determination of the 24/25 calendar of events

1. Mixed Pairs to be held at Woodborough providing we can get enough tables.  Proposed date 1st Dec
2. Priday Cup (Jack high event?) at Mansfield 3rd November. Mark believes that is should be 9 high.
3. Journal Cup ( County pairs Corwin qualifier) 16th March on line using Realbridge
4. Teams ( Pachabo qualifier) F2F 2nd February venue to be confirmed most probably Nottingham bridge club.
5. Future Green Point and Blue point events 26th July 25 and 21st September. Start the list of advert distribution, resurrect Facebook page for the county ( Sue Wright will get admin rights from Toni Smith)

5)     To discuss and agree an expenses policy for Tournament Directors and Officers.

Clare to talk to Keith about the cost involved with running the Green Teams

6)     Treasurer’s report expenditure exceeds income. The policy of continuing to offer free events will continue

7)     Update on arrangements for team of 8 league.  Some clubs who have insufficient interested players are now looking at joining forces with other clubs.  Retford will return to the league this year. We hope to have 10 teams altogether, with 2 divisions. Charges will be worked out when we know the number of matches.  We may review the team of 8 v team of 4 formats in the future.

8)     Coaching of county team - are there any plans for continuing feedback sessions or running training sessions on real bridge?

1. Making facility available on the website to find teams mates for external events.
2. Possible master classes, maybe before bridge sessions, possibly charge
3. Clare to ask Steve Raine to do some master classes

9)     Roles of members of the committee Ewa to take over as secretary, Dave Treherne will take on club liaison with Nottingham Clubs esp Nottingham club, Clare and Jane will organise orders from Sainsbury for the events as the usual lady is no longer available.  They will need help to set out on the day. 

14)   Any items of Urgent Business

1. Get agreement from committee members to disclose the email addresses.
2. Sort the website out – Shirley and Sue to look at this jointly. Clare will talk to Keith if there are access issues.
3. Specify duties and responsibilities of the secretary. Does it include the newsletter?
4. Take off from County website reference to payment for playing away for County
5. County will not pay for members that are Notts is not the primary allegiance
6. Issue with people playing in Garden Cities that do not play in the league. Should not happen in the future. Will be checked with EBU rules. Their club should pay for them.
