Tollemache Final
On 8-9 February 2014 the Berks and Bucks team have won the Tollemache Cup for county teams of eight for the second year in a row. Things were a lot closer than last year, though, with second-placed Kent just 3 VPs behind and third-placed London just 4 VPs behind them. The team was identical to the 2013 champions: Sally Brock, Barry Myers, Ed Scerri, Gary Jones, Tim Rees, John Howard, Andrew Murphy and Richard Bowdery.
The Northants team finished in 5th place out of the 8 teams.
The county's best ever performance in the county championship.

NCBA News for EBU Magazine - April 2014 |
On Sunday April 13 we shall be holding the Alastair Brodie memorial trophy. The event will be pairs in the afternoon with teams in the evening, team-mates being determined by your position in the afternoon pairs. This year's trophies will be presented at this event rather thanat the AGM..
Congratulations to the following teams who have won their divisions in the inter club league:
Kettering A in division 1;
Stamford B in division 2;
Kettering C in division 3 south;
Spalding B in division 3 north.
Kettering C and Spalding B will play off for the division 3 trophy.
Marcus Witt’s team (Marcus Witt, Trevor Thrower, Chandra Ramamoorthy, Mike Gore Browne) have won the North-Eastern section of the Winter league with Dan Baines' team (Dan Baines, Mike Trask, Tony Hough, John Walshaw) winning the South-Western section. These two teams will play in the final.
The Broke Cup Final will be between Jim Deacon's team and Mary Knights' team.
Teams captained by Richard Gibson and Mark Hodgson have reached the final of the Betts Bowl.
The county played in the final of the Tollemache where we finished in fifth position, the county's highest ever position.
Against Cambridge University in the Eastern Counties league the county A team won 11-9 and the B team won 20-0 .
Against Essex the A team won 16-4, the B team won 17-3 but the C team lost 4-16.

The county's Eden Cup and Murchie Lerner competitions will take place at Kettering Bridge club on Sunday 30th March. The first two places in the Eden Cup will represent the county in the Corwen.
The Alastair Brodie Trophy will be held at Kettering on Sunday 13th April. This is designed as a social event with a pairs event in the afternoon and a teams event in the evening. Presentation of the season's trophy will take place in the interval.
The Lakeland was won by Kettering A and they will represent the County in the Garden Cities.
The Kettering Trophy was won by the Kettering team of Simon Few, Liz Coltman, Graham Dolby and Janet Porter with the Stamford team of Marlene Jones, David Banks, Angela Abbott and James Spencer.
In the Eastern Counties league match against Bedfordshire the A team lost 5-15, the B team won 20-0 and the C team won 15-5.
Jim Deacon, Rob Miller, Marcus Witt and Trevor Thrower won the Sussex Cup at the Autumn Congress.

Teams. Michael Keogh, Stephen O’Kell, Alan Coker and Doreen Simpson won the Felixstowe Congress Swiss Teams.
In the Eastern Counties League match against Hertfordshire the A team won 13-7, the B team lost 9-11 and the C team won 13-7. In the match against Norfolk the A team lost 8-12, the B team won 16-4 and the C team lost 8-12.
Kettering Bridge Club’s Porch Trophy will take place on Sunday December 1st. This is a two-session Swiss Pairs event; entries to Colin Tuton.
