A New Committee is Elected |
At the Extraordinary General Meeting on 15 November
a new committee was elected: Robert, Andy, David, Gerard and Brian.
In the meantime Maureen writes
Thank you so much for the very beautiful handmade Dartington glass vase. I has been my pleasure to be part of Holt Bridge Club over so many years.
Of course, what I forgot to do yesterday evening was to give a very big vote of thanks to Derek Godfrey. He has played at and supported the club for many years. He became chairman at the AGM in 2019, saw the club through lockdown, and post Covid, in his quiet and gentle way, he has continued to support the club and encouraged others to do likewise, continually thinking of ways to bring in new / returning members. He has arrived early, along with one or two others, to open up and set up the tables etc for the evening. He is always the last to leave, turning out the lights and locking up.
So thank you all for the beautiful gift, and thank you Derek for believing in Holt Bridge Club.

25th Anniversary Celebrations |
|
On 7 August we celebrated 25 years with a champagne and buffet supper and bridge. The actual start date of the club is unknown but it was two or three months before the inaugural committee meeting which was held 14 October 1988.
Founder members Pat Purchese, Jean Smith, Elizabeth Brown, Beulah Carr and Joy Woodrow were all there on the 7th as was the NCBA President, Mervyn Scutter. The Club Chairman, Nigel Baker, presented Pat Purchese, as the driving force in starting up the club, with a certificate making her Honorary President and Life Member.
A very enjoyable evening.
