Tuesday Afternoon Sessions - Starting in January

Please note that from January the start time is now slightly later at 1:15pm.  Please arrive 15 minutes beforehand so that there is time to prepare the movement, and hand out the tablets and cards.

NGS 9 High Events 2025
 

26th January - Yorkshire 9 High Pairs.  An online competition on BBO.  For more details click here.

7th February - A Really Easy Bridge Afternoon (9 High Swiss Pairs) at the Cedar Court Hotel Harrogate. For more details click here.

We are a welcoming and friendly bridge club catering for players of all standards.  We run six pairs sessions per week. Master points are awarded.  We also have classes for beginners and intermediates, and occasional instruction on specific topics.

For the more competitive players we have three teams in the Yorkshire Sunday League.   Many of our players also group together to make teams of four that play in the Harrogate and District Bridge League against more local opposition.

Harrogate Bridge Club is located in the centre of this beautiful spa town.  The club has its own private licensed premises and is well established with over 250 members. 

Visiting pairs are always made welcome.

We are running 3 teams of 4 pairs in the Yorkshire League this season, playing against other Yorkshire teams, with home and away fixtures.  The matches are played on a Sunday afternoon against players of roughly the same standard.  There are 7 divisions.

The remaining matches for this season are: 16th February, 2nd March and 16th March.

Nick Woolven Seminar
 

Nick Woolven, who is Chairman of YCBA, visited the club to give the first of a series of seminars which we are holding on Wednesday mornings.  He explained ways in which we can improve our declarer play and defence by counting the distribution and strength of the opponents' hands.

Everyone found it interesting and instructive and we enjoyed trying to make our contracts, though some of us still found it difficult even after the clear instructions given.  The hands can be downloaded by clicking here.
