The club was  founded by local Suttonian, Betty Byrne in 1992. Betty, a bridge teacher, realised that her pupils needed a club in which to improve their skills after completing classes and as there were no other Bridge clubs in Sutton at the time, she decided to fill the gap by founding  the very popular Greenfield Bridge Club which  welcomes players on a Tuesday evening to play Bridge in a friendly but quietly competitive atmosphere.
