ECBA Friendly League Rules

1. For the 2016 season, all matches will be played at Barleylands, with the exception of the Hutton and Thorpe Bay home matches. The Party Night will be at Barleylands for all clubs.
2. For matches played at Barleylands, teams should assemble at 19:15 for a 19:30 start. Table money is £2 per player (£1.50 to Bernie, 50p to be retained for Party Night).
3. The movement will be Terry Wise's development of the standard 'Circulation' movement for four teams of four, ensuring that each pair from each team plays six boards against each of the four pairs from the opposing team.

• The home team of Eight consists in pairs 1A, 1B, 4A and 4B, while the away team consists in pairs 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B
4. The scoring will be by IMPs, aggregated and converted to VPs.
• The methodology is explained in Section 3.1.4 of the August 2015 edition of the EBU White Book.
• Option (b) is chosen, using the modified IMPs table and teams-of-four 24-board VP scale.
• It is essential that this consistent pair of IMP & VP tables is used, and not those on the back of club scorecards.
5. There are currently issues with the automated scoring of Teams of Eight matches, in particular with the interface between Scorebridge / Teamscorer and Bridgewebs. If you have to calculate the scores manually, the methodology is given below.
• A manual Score Sheet is available here, and an Excel file, complete with a sample scored match, is available for download here. The Excel file will perform the IMP and VP calculations for you automatically.
• For each board, the four raw scores are aggregated, and converted to IMPs.
• The IMPS are calculated using the Modified IMPS table for Teams of Eight, taken from Section 3.7.1 (page 66) of the White Book, repeated below and on the Score Sheet.
• The IMPs totals for the 24 boards are aggregated and converted to VPs using the 24-board match column in the table in Section 3.1.1 (page 47) of the White book, repeated below.
6. These results, together with the names of both teams' members, should be sent to Theo Todman, the ECBA Webmaster, who will collate all the results and arrange for their publication on the ECBA website, and also to the League organiser, Graham Foster.
