WELCOME TO COCO’S DUPLICATE BRIDGE CLUB

We are a n​​​​​​on ACBL sanctioned duplicate club, operated by a volunteer committee, that plays Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays* upstairs in the San Lucas Restaurant on the corner of Lazaro Cardenas and Insurgentes (entrance is the side door facing the Guadalajara Pharmacy).  * Saturdays begin the first Saturday in January.

The 2024-2025 season will begin MONDAY, OCTOBER 21!!!!!  LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!!   We look forward to a great new season and seeing you again soon.  Registration will close at 1:15 to ready the game for its start time at 1:30.  The cost per person is 150 pesos.  Please bring the correct change for you and your partner (300 pesos total).  Don’t forget to tip our waiters.

Due to circumstances beyond the PV Tournament Committee’s control, they have been forced to move the host hotel and playing site for the PV Regional Tournament, November 4-10, 2024, from the Westin Resort & Spa to the Hotel Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta.  The playing schedule has not changed.  If you have a reservation at the Westin, your reservation will be automatically moved to the Krystal Grand.  You will receive a separate email from the Westin outlining the details of your stay at the Krystal Grand.  The Tournament Committee has negotiated an even better rate than what you would have received at the Westin.  The address of the Krystal Grand is Av. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of two of our bridge community members, Paul Kullman and Ray Lloyd.

Paul died on October 18, 2024, and is survived  by his partner, Carlos Kullman.  Paul was gay in the age where it was verboten, yet he and Carlos cared so much for each other that they traveled to NYC to marry.          He received a PhD in clinical psychology and established his own clinics in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He was supportive then and recently in helping others make hard decisions in life changing situations.           Paul was instrumental in locating our present venue, San Lucas Restaurant, when we had to leave Coco’s.  He enjoyed playing bridge at the clubs, on line and at different members’ homes.                                                     On a personal note, Paul and Carlos were very appreciated when Jack had his detached retina carting me for groceries.  

Ray was born on March 11, 1925 in Vancouver BC.  He was hoping to be a centenarian, he came close celebrating his 99th birthday in March.  Ray is survived by his two children from a previous marriage and his wife of 39 years, Verna, one of our regular Coco Bridge Club members.  Ray and Verna actually met at the bridge table!                                                                                                                                                                                                             Ray was a tail gunner in WWII, serving from 1943-1945 and completing 32 missions with the Royal Canadian Air Force.                                                                                                                                                                He played many years at our club but eventually the beach won out where he would go daily with his dog.  But if it was cloudy and someone was missing a partner at our club, a call would be made and he would come over to help out.
