Welcome to The Strettons Bridge Club
South Shropshire Bridge Teams League 2025/26 ~ Grand Final

On Thursday 30 April the Grand Final of the 2025/26 SSBTL competition was held at The Strettons Bridge Club.  The two Strettons teams played in a repeat of last year's final, with William Croom-Johnson's team emerging victorious over the RIM team.  The score of 12-8 suggested a close match with three boards in particular proving decisive (the debate continues as to how they should have been bid).  The Malcolm Mitchell Memorial Trophy was awarded to the winning Strettons BC team (William Croom-Johnson & Elizabeth Maddocks with Martin Church & Graham Wenman).  The defeated Strettons BC "RIM" team applauded while gnashing their few remaining teeth (Tony Poole & Mike McGarry with Jeff Jones & Dom Wilson).
Free tuition for Beginners, Improvers and Partnerships

Dom Wilson is ready to run tuition sessions for Beginners at any time, depending on demand (minimum of 8). 

Small group development for Improvers is available and is topic-based (e,g, slams, pre-empts, signalling, defence to 1NT) at the request of participants.

For specific Partnerships seeking to build their expertise, Dom can provide a tailored coaching arrangement.

An introduction to Dom's infamous Shropshire Club bidding system can be (enthusiastically) arranged.

All Dom's tuition is free, though there may be a small fee (£3) to cover venue hire and refreshments.  Just e-mail Dom Wilson (dwbridge@hotmail.co.uk) to discuss what you are looking for.

Welcome to Our Club!

The Strettons Bridge club is a friendly and informal club and we are  always happy to welcome new members of all abilities or accommodate those who might just want to come along and watch/ or play before deciding! No obligation.... the first attendance is free and we can guarantee a partner on that occasion if needed. Regular members requiring a partner for the forthcoming play usually post on our 'What's App' page (SBC looking for partners group). There are usually one or two such posts per week.

Membership is £10/year.  Play on Thursday is £2 (members) or £3 (non members). Tea/coffee (and often delicious cake) free!

Play starts at 1pm sharp, but please turn up by 12.50 to enable the director to set up the right movement.

THE CLUB

You are very welcome at our club!
The STRETTONS BRIDGE CLUB meets every Thursday at 12.45 in All Stretton Village Hall for a relaxed, enjoyable and informal session of duplicate bridge.  We welcome players of all levels, including beginners, so long as you know the basics (and if you don't but would like to, see the "Tuition" tab in the left-hand menu).  Feel free to bring crib notes or ask Dom or Martin or Tony for advice at any stage during the bidding or play.  No need to bring a partner - we have a host system.  This is a Club that prioritises support for less experienced players.  Those seeking a more competitive or ambitious environment might prefer alternative options.
