We extend our warmest congratulations to David Walsh on receiving the prestigious  silver salver  for achieving Grand Master status in bridge. This remarkable milestone is a continuation of a proud family legacy, as David follows in the footsteps of his late father Paddy Walsh, who was celebrated as one of Ireland’s top bridge players.

David becomes only the fifth person in the Western Region to reach this esteemed status, joining the ranks of Gay Keaveney, Enda Glynn, Rory Timlin, and Joan Kenny.

Well done, David, on this outstanding achievement!

A great day was had by all at the regional qualifiers held on Sunday, December 1st in Galway Bridge Center.  A special thank you to our Tournament Director, Liam Faherty, who kept things running like clockwork, Fiona Place for all her organising, and Marion Donlon for her excellent culinary skills.

Those who came 1st and 2nd in their grade will represent the Western Region in the National Pairs competition held in Ennistymmon, Feb 22nd/23rd, 2025.

Welcome to the website of the Western Region of the Contract Bridge Association of Ireland.
The CBAI is the national body that administers the game of contract bridge across the 26 counties of Ireland.
This national association is made up of various regional branches including the Western Region which administers the game in County Galway.

Each region is run by a committee comprised of representatives of the affiliated clubs. The region's officers (President, Secretary, Treasurer, etc,) are elected at the AGM which is traditionally held in December. The position of President rotates equally between the various clubs of the region.
