Unit Championship Games |
The Unit 240 Unit Wide Championships on dates near National Holidays is no longer going to be offered due to lack of participation by clubs whose section tops objected to having their results reduced when combined with other clubs. So, going forward...
Unit 240 is going to offer each club in Unit 240 one day during the year to hold a Single Unit Championship in which only their club will participate. Each club will have until December 31st, 2024 to submit their choice of up to 3 dates on which they would like to hold a Unit Championship. If after Dec 31st, the unit has not allotted all of the 24 Unit Championships we are allowed to sanction, the second and/or third choices of those clubs submitting dates will be given sanctions until our limit has been reached. Our purpose in awarding Unit Championships to our clubs is to increase the number of games in which our clubs may offer their players an opportunity to win extra points. Clubs will upload their results to ACBL-Live and ACBL will charge these games at the rate of only $2.40 per table. To sweeten this option even more, Unit 240 is considering rebating all or a portion of this table fee back to the clubs.
Clubs interested in holding Unit Championships should submit up to three desired dates in priority order along with the sessions (Morning, Afternoon, or Evening) to Glen Martin at gmartin56@gmail.com by December 31, 2024. (Note: Only two clubs may pick the same date and the first clubs to submit their request for a particular date will be awarded a Unit Championship for that date.) Please include your club number with your request. Shortly after submitting your request, you will receive an email back confirming which date you have been awarded along with the sanction number for that date.
For Single Unit Championship games, registered clubs physically conduct their own game. These games are scored as Unit Championship games awarding 63.6% of the sectional-rated points. Multiple sections may be included in this game rating. Masterpoint Open, Limited, or Invitational pair games are set up as championship events with the appropriate upper masterpoint limit and strata as determined by the club. Please note: The results from the participating clubs will NOT be combined as is done for a STaC. All points will be Black. All games must be uploaded to ACBL Live for Clubs where ACBL will issue overall and section awards separately for each site.
