Basingstoke Bridge club was founded in 1966 by Harold Foster and is the largest bridge club in Hampshire with a thriving membership of over 250. We are located in our own premises at Maydene, Sherborne Rd, Basingstoke, RG21 5TG (at the corner of Richmond Rd).

What we offer and when

Bridge sessions - what we offer and when

These session are F2F at the clubhouse - please arrive at least 10 minutes before the session:

Club pairs - Tuesday & Wednesday afternoon, Thursday evening and Friday mornings
Boost your Bridge - play and learn - every other Monday evening - please book via the calendar event
First steps into Duplicate - aimed at those who haven't played duplicate before or who have very little experience. Alternate Monday's to Boost your Bridge - please book via calendar event

The following sessions will be run online on RealBridge.

Club pairs - running on Monday and Friday evenings
Club teams - running on the last Monday of the month
9-High pairs - most Tuesday evenings
9-High teams - once a month on a Tuesday evening
Club Social Lounge - every day from 9.30am to 9.30pm
Supervised Play - every other Wednesday evening
In addition club members can book a 'teams session' or choose a 'practice hands' session - for any day that they choose.

More details about each of these online sessions can be found using the menu 'Playing Online'.

Check the calendar for details of dates and times for all sessions. RealBridge links for all online sessions (except social lounge, teams session and practice hands which are booked via a form) will be on the event in the calendar from 10 days prior to the event.

Table money for sessions is £2.50 for members and £4.50 for non members. Supervised Play and Boost your Bridge is charged at £4. Social Lounge is £1 per person.

New competition

The committee is pleased to announce a new annual Competition for the George Collins Trophy for NGS 6 and below members

The goal is to identify a pair that would embody the objectives George championed when running his sessions.

To provide more opportunities for players at level 6 and below to take part, the competition will be held over 2 sessions - Thursday 13th March and Friday 14th March using the same hands for both. Players may only enter one of the two sessions. The qualifying pair (both players NGS 6 or below) with the highest score from either session will win.

These sessions are open to all players on these dates, however, only pairs meeting the NGS 6 or below requirement will be eligible for the trophy.

How are we doing with SLAM bidding? In January we bid 143 slams and made 62%. This is the highest number of slams bid since the competition started 2 years ago

Club Holiday 2025

CLUB UK HOLIDAY - NOW OPEN FOR BOOKING

6th to 10th May 2025

Following on from the club providing two bridge holidays abroad, (last year and this year), we have now scheduled a UK holiday for Tuesday 6th until Saturday 10th May 2025 at Saunton Sands in Devon.

We recognise that this might be a long drive as it is North Devon, so we will be providing a coach for the journey and also for trip(s) out during the 5 days. You will have the option of booking this at an extra cost, or travelling in your own car.

Online Supervised Play

Supervised play sessions are aimed at helping players to revise topics and improve their bidding and card play. Each session will take place online using RealBridge and offers the opportunity to play 12 hands with a friendly supervisor giving advice. The events take place fortnightly on a Wednesday evening starting at 7pm.
