The Club Committee would like to wish all our members Season's Greetings and a happy and prosperous New Year.

The Club will be closed for face-to-face bridge after the Monday Session on 23rd December and will re-open for bridge on Thursday 2nd January.

There will be no bridge on Tuesday 24th , Thursday 26th , Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st December.

On-line bridge will be available as usual on Friday 27th December.

Starting in January, in order to cut down on unnecessary coffee cup wastage, if you would like to have tea or coffee, we are asking all members to bring their own reusable coffee cup.

If you don't currently have a reusable cup, then this is the ideal time to put it on your Christmas list. We plan to be strict about supplying tea and coffee if you don't have a cup.

WBBC are holding a Charity Bridge Lunch for Parkinson’s on Wednesday 29 January 2025 at the Blue Check Restaurant in Bushey.  Cost will be £25 to include a 2 course lunch and donation to the charity.  Entry forms will be available from January 2025.

After a 30 year wait, the WBBC team had a convincing win in the Hertfordshire inter-club competition for teams of eight to take the Desmond Flockhart Trophy.  The club last won this trophy in 1994 and will now represent Hertfordshire in the inter-county Garden Cities Trophy.

Supervised Play runs online on Real Bridge on alternate Monday evenings at 7.30 for about two hours.  You will receive supervision on the evening over 12 boards (taken/adapted from a club duplicate session) with hand records afterwards including suggested bidding and play tips. The sessions are aimed at those who are doing, or have done, the Improvers course and who want to build their skills and confidence towards playing in club duplicate sessions.  The charge is £5 per session, billed at the end of term and payable by bank transfer.

You need to let us know in advance if you are interested and then we will put you on our specific circulation list.  A memo is then sent round, normally on the Tuesday before each date asking who wants to play, with confirmation and links on the day before the session, so as to allow us to arrange full tables.  Please notify us of your interest marking it Online Supervised Bridge and emailing our club email for the attention of John at wbbcmembership@proton.me

Monday morning Gentle bridge sessionsrun from 9.45am to 11.45am. This is a gentle session aimed mainly at improvers and those who come to supervised bridge. The cost is £3 and we aim to play about 14 boards. You are welcome to come without a partner - we will find someone to partner you.

Our Face to Face Thursday morning is now very popular. This duplicate bridge session runs from about 10.00-12.30 and is usually around 18 boards.  Please arrive no later than 9.45 for a 10.00 start. The session attracts EBU masterpoints but is not NGS ranked.  The charge is £3. As a change from how the session used to operate you will need to come along with a partner.

Since we are approaching our maximum capacity of about 24 tables for this session, this session is now for Members Only - no visitors please.
