| 25th Anniversary - 2027 |
2027 will be Upwey Bridge Club's 25th Anniversary and it's been a fascinating journey researching the Club's history. Founded by Dennis Ansell in October 2002, the Club started its beginner's lessons by advertising in libraries, shop windows and inaugural sessions were held in Burrinja, previously the Sherbrooke Shire Offices! Many of those reading this will know the legendary Martin Wilcox who provided all the equipment! After a couple of years, the Club moved to the Upwey-Tecoma Bowls Club where bridge continued for some years. In more recent times the Club outgrew those premises and expanded into the Upwey-Tecoma Football and Cricket Club which is its current home.
As its anniversary year fast approaches, the Club is planning some exciting events as part of its celebrations so watch this space!
