Unit 216 Board Meeting

February 18, 2019

Present:  Carolyn Sabroske, Carolyn Miller, Sally Meixner, Bill Wallace, Kate Reynolds, Gregg Walsh, Dee Wilson

Absent:  Kristin Welter, Barb Maas, Bonni Newton, Tom Olsson

President Carolyn Sabroske called the meeting to order. 

Bill moved to accept the previous minutes, Carolyn M seconded.  Approved.  Treasurer’s report was given, Kate moved to accept, Gregg seconded.  Approved.

Education:  Penny Rittgers presented the education report.  Multiple bridge courses for beginners will be offered this spring by Paul Spong and Bonni Newton.  Bridge lessons continue to be offered in two middle schools in the Des Moines area.

Regional:  Nancy is asking for volunteers to help.  The Regional flyer is available on the ACBL website.

Spring Festival:  The flyer has been submitted to ACBL for approval.

Grand National Teams and Pairs:  Rich Newell and Gregg Walsh are co-chairs.  Flyer is available on ACBL website.

NLM Regional:  Dates are July 10-12, 2020.

Dealing Machines:  The dealing machine will be sent for refurbishment during the Regional this July.

Bridge Pads:  Bridge pads will be sent for refurbishment as needed.

NLM Sectional:  Kate Reynolds will chair.  Event will be held in August 2019, specific dates yet to be determined.

Medallion Party:  Sally Meixner will chair.  Event will be held on June 1.

Bidding Boxes:  An inventory of the Unit’s bidding boxes will be undertaken.  We need 80 boxes for the Regional. 

Gregg moved to adjourn, Dee seconded.  Next meeting is April 8.
