Roy Seaman |
Hi all,
I'm sad to report that Roy Seaman has passed away.
Roy was the founder of St.Albans Bridge Club, in the late 60's and, for many years the Chairman and leading player. You can see a record of his regular successes here https://www.bridgewebs.com/cgi-bin/bwor/bw.cgi?club=stalbans&pid=display_page24 .
He was an Honorary Life Member and still active in online bridge until very recently. Many of you will remember he also was a regular participant in our BBO Teams games during Lock Down. He was also the donator of the eponymous, Roy Seaman Trophy, which is awarded annually to the player with the most Master Points who has not won any of the other Trophy's. Ironically I believe the original idea behind it was that Roy wanted other Members to win something as he habitually won our Annual Ladders himself.
I will publish details of his Memorial Service when known.
Steve

Bridge with St. Albans Bridge Club |
Welcome to St. Albans Bridge Club. We are currently playing twice a week.
Monday evenings at 19:30 Jersey Farm Community Hall - Duplicate Pairs except for the second Monday of the month when we will play Multiple Teams. For Pairs events we operate a Reserve Player system so members can come along without a partner and will get a game. Partners are assigned on a 'first come, first served basis'.
Thursday evenings at 19:20 online on BBO
Non-members wishing to play in either event MUST contact me for approval at least 24 hrs in advance at steve@lamberts.org.uk. Tournament Directors may not permit non-members to play if they simply arrive at the event.
