Important Points

Please use your Personal ID number to identify yourself when setting up the Bridgemates. If you have a visitor with you, they can be entered as zero (0), the scorer will update their name in the database later.

If you make an entry mistake with the Bridgemate, please call for the scorer. It shouldn't be too difficult to fix things as long as East hasn't accepted the result. Even then, the scorer can fix the error directly on the computer. At the end of the evening and before entering the last board, please report any potential corrections to the scorer and Tournament Director.

Welcome to The Lusaka Bridge Club
LUSAKA BRIDGE CLUB
LUSAKA BRIDGE CLUB

Welcome to the Lusaka Bridge Club web site. Members and visitors play duplicate bridge at Lusaka Golf Club. We have two club sessions per week, on Friday mornings and Monday evenings.

The Friday morning session is usually played in person at the golf club starting at 9:30am. Monday night sessions will be played online on BBO starting at 6pm. All players are requested to be seated or registered for online sessions at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.

If you are looking for a partner contact the Chairperson, Secretary or Tournament Director on the numbers listed below. The table money is K70 per person per session for members and K100 for non-members. The annual subscription for members is K200 per person.

Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, is renowned for its friendly atmosphere. Lusaka Golf Club hosts the annual Zanaco Masters Open Golf Tournament in April and with its excellent facilities and fully licensed bar is an excellent venue for our bridge sessions. The club is situated on Los Angeles Boulevard between Longacres and Kabulonga and is a short distance by car from the Intercontinental, Pamodzi and Southern Sun hotels.

Bridge Lessons

Learn to Play Bridge

Bridge is a game that is enjoyed from the very outset it is hugely stimulating for the brain, highly addictive and a great social activity.

Like all Bridge Clubs we are pleased to welcome new members but you do need to learn the game before being able to play at a club. So if you are new to the game or don't feel quite ready to play at the club then  ask the club secretary about lessons.

Whilst group lessons are the best way to learn, if you can't find the time to commit to regular lessons there are now plenty of online options such as:

DUPLICATE EVENTS

As a general rule please be seated at the venue 10 minutes before the stated time to give the committee time to set up the movement and the bridgemates.  This means being at Golf Club by 6:20pm on Mondays. Some members are getting home at midnight and it is only fair to try to keep good time. Please get to the club as early as you can.

A point of etiquette. After the bidding of the contract is complete, please leave out your bidding cards until the person on lead has selected the lead card and placed it face down on the table. This allows his partner to ask any relevant questions about the bidding that has taken place. It is bad etiquette to put away your bidding cards as declarer (and dummy) before the defenders have had time to review and question your bids. Declarer and either defender are allowed a full recap of the bidding until they have played a card to the first trick, in declarer's case this card will be from dummy.
