Teams of Four - Second Round

Thursday 29th October - Evening Session

This is the third of the five teams events played on the fifth Mondays and Thursdays from June to March.  The best three of five results will determine which team is the overall winner of the Teams competition for 2026-27.  Teams are welcome to play as many or as few times as they wish and may use up to four HBC members as reserves.
The remaining dates are: Monday November 30th and Monday March 29th.

Friday 30th October

	We have arranged two CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation) courses for members.  They will cover chest compression techniques and using a defibrillator. They are informative and lively. They will also include the recovery position and dealing with choking and bleeding. There can be 20 people per course.
They will be given by Helen Rogers - an ex-NHS nurse on behalf of St John Ambulance. They take about 90 minutes. There is no charge but an optional charitable donation to SJA is requested, with £10 being suggested. The first course is at 10:30am and the second at 12:30pm.

Children In Need Simultaneous Pairs 2026

Monday 9th November (afternoon bridge) 1pm for a 1:15pm start

Wednesday 11th November (evening bridge) 7pm for a 7:15pm start

Please join us again to raise money for Children in Need

For both days the table money is £5.00 - additional donations will be gratefully accepted.  This is a national sim pairs event with the same hands played in bridge clubs throughout the country. Different hands will be played on the Monday & Wednesday so you can play in both sessions if you wish, but you cannot play in this event twice on the same day e.g. at another club or on BBO.  EBU and club fees will be waived.  Last year we raised a staggering £1,000.

Sign-up sheets will be in the bar area. A maximum of 15 tables. There will be a waiting list so it is important that you contact Judy Cope if you can no longer play.

These sessions are run in conjunction with ECatsBridge, who are hosting this simultaneous pairs event.  They are also an official partner of BBC Children In Need because of all the money they have raised in the past.

We are running 3 teams of 4 pairs in the Yorkshire League this season, playing against other Yorkshire teams, with home and away fixtures.  The matches are played on a Sunday afternoon against players of roughly the same standard.  There are 7 divisions.

The remaining matches are on 8th November, 22nd November, 6th December, 14th February, 28th February and 14th March.

Please be tolerant of players who don’t get all the updated procedures exactly right straight away – it’s meant to be an exercise in informing your opponents of your methods, not an excuse for trying to get one over on them!
