Swiss Pairs

Friday 16th January
 

Our next Swiss Pairs event will be on Friday 16th January please be seated for 1pm.

As always, this event is open to all members of the club who are used to playing in standard duplicate sessions.  The first round is random but thereafter, you will be playing members of a similar standard to yourself so it's a great event to include everyone!

The Swiss Pairs events can run on a little longer than a duplicate pairs session so please ensure you allow plenty of time.  Numbers for the event are critical so if you sign up but are subsequently unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

The Club's Mens and Ladies Pairs competitions will take place on Wednesday 21st January at the evening session.  If you can't find a member of the same sex to play with you can still play without standing in the competitions.  Turn up on the evening.

Charity Sim Pairs for UNICEF

Tuesday 27th January 1pm for a 1:15pm start

Please join us to raise money for UNICEF

The table money is £5.00 - additional donations will be gratefully accepted.  This is a national sim pairs event with the same hands played in bridge clubs throughout the country. You cannot play in this event again on the Tuesday at another club.  Overall black master points will be awarded.

This session is run in conjunction with ECatsBridge, who are hosting this simultaneous pairs event.  Ecats also host the Children In Need sim pairs which many of you have played in previously.

Ecats - "We raise funds for UNICEF who desperately need money to be able to help the many thousands of children affected by war, children who are displaced and refugees and of course others affected by famine, floods, climate change. It’s heartbreaking to read some of the information that comes through and it would be great if you could join us and raise some funds …"

Mixed Pairs - Paton Trophy

The Club's Mixed Pairs competition will take place on Friday 20th February - 12:45 for a 1pm start.

We are a welcoming and friendly bridge club catering for players of all standards.  We run six pairs sessions per week. Master points are awarded.  We also have classes for beginners and intermediates, and occasional instruction on specific topics.

For the more competitive players we have three teams in the Yorkshire Sunday League.   Many of our players also group together to make teams of four that play in the Harrogate and District Bridge League against more local opposition.

Harrogate Bridge Club is located in the centre of this beautiful spa town.  The club has its own private licensed premises and is well established with over 250 members. 

Visiting pairs are always made welcome.

Congratulations to the following members who have recently earned Master Point promotions.

We are running 3 teams of 4 pairs in the Yorkshire League this season, playing against other Yorkshire teams, with home and away fixtures.  The matches are played on a Sunday afternoon against players of roughly the same standard.  There are 7 divisions.

The remaining fixtures are on 15th February, 8th March and 29th March.

The content of these books applies to all events held on or after 7th August 2023. Please be tolerant of players who don’t get all the updated procedures exactly right straight away – it’s meant to be an exercise in informing your opponents of your methods, not an excuse for trying to get one over on them!
