CHILDREN IN NEED   as in previous years we will be supporting Children in Need on Monday 11th November and Wednesday 13th November.   We suggest a minimum donation of £5 table money per person, all proceeds going to the charity. For those of you who may not be aware, the same hands are played at every bridge club participating in CiN on the particular day.  Although we don't play on Friday, the following may be of interest to some of you. WELCOME TO THE BIRCHES BRIDGE CLUB

We play duplicate bridge every Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon at Much Birch Community Hall (HR2 8HT). On Mondays play begins at 7.00pm, and finishes no later than 10.30pm, however please arrive by 6.45pm, to allow for the setting up of the computer. On Wednesdays play begins at 2.00pm, finishing approximately 5.15pm, and please arrive by 1.45pm.   

We use duplimated boards and Bridgemates, and EBU points are awarded. Tea, coffee and snacks are served in the interval free of charge. Session money is £3 (£4 for visitors), and there's a £5 annual subscription. 

We are a friendly club and welcome new members and visitors.

A new course of bridge lessons for beginners and returners started on Tuesday 17th September 2024 at Much Birch Community Hall.  The course consists of 2 terms of 12 lessons each.  Each lesson starts at 2:00pm for 2 hours.  The lessons are given by Janet Dowdle and Andrew Davis, both EBU qualified bridge teachers and consists of a little bit of talk on a specific topic, some quizzes and exercises on that topic, and a lot of playing of cards. Detailed notes are provided for each lessons, and homework is given!
